OSTREGA in TOUR!
The aim of Ostrega! in Tour is to become a “travelling exhibition of Veneto across Asia” by exporting its historical and cultural peculiarities as well as its achievements in the field of arts, tourism, gastronomic delicacies and, in broader terms, the story of its success.
Our project consists of travelling by bus across Asia, starting in Venice and ending in Beijing, in August 2009. The journey is inspired by the most renowned Venetian of all time, Marco Polo. Thanks to his journeys and personal experiences - narrated in his book "The Travels of Marco Polo" - Marco Polo represents a source of pride for Veneto. Needless to say, his legacy has had an enormous impact on subsequent travellers, explorers and ethnographers. Ostrega! in Tour will travel along the same route as Marco Polo, the Silk Road, re-living Marco Polo’s journeys which eventually took him to the court of Khubilai Khan. As Marco Polo once helped Venetians to learn about the way of living and customs of Central Asia and China, so Ostrega! in Tour will show Veneto’s culture, traditions and products to China and the other Central Asian countries.
Our journey is a 30 day trip along a route of almost 13,000 km. The Ostrega-bus will drive through 14 countries, stopping in 19 cities before arriving at its final destination: Beijing.
